Party Post Number 18

Terry McLaughlin never planned on being a writer, but she's thrilled her latest hobby has turned into a career. She lives with her husband of nearly thirty years on a small ranch in Northern California, tucked beneath the tall coast redwoods.

Fabulous party, Tessa! Thanks for the invitation, and congratulations!

I'm delighted to be here to help celebrate the release of Tessa's Black Widow Bride. It wasn't all that long ago that Tessa, Tawny Weber, and I had our picture (link: http://www.tessaradley.com/collage.php) taken beneath our Golden Heart contests photos, and now we're all old published ladies.

Okay, so I'm the only old lady of the threesome--and a brand new grandmother, too. I have to admit, I wasn't sure I'd adjust to the idea that I'm suddenly a member of a much older generation, but playing with my grandbaby makes me feel young again.

Writing love stories makes me feel young, too. That first rush of new love--ahhh. It's ageless, isn't it?

What makes you feel young again?
ONE reader will WIN one of Terry's Bright Lights, Big Sky series for a comment about feeling young.

I loved the Bright Lights, Big City books. Looking forward to more.
I feel younger when I get my hands dirty playing in the garden. Even though I live in an apartment I can still have plants in pots on my balcony a create my own little jungle. Plus I end up usually working on various family member's gardens.

When I was younger, I had to grow up fast after my parents divorce. While I'm not that old now, the thing that makes me feel younger is being with my baby sister. We're nineteen years apart, and it brings such joy to me to watch her play and enjoy life. Another thing that makes me feel young is being with my boyfriend, Nate... he still acts like a child, lol

Sitting in the floor playing with my neice makes me feel younger. She is 2 and loves Dora the Explorer and Caillou.

The grandbabies do it; you know you are older being a grandma but seeing the things they do brings 'youth' out again.

Well, I'm 30. . . and I mostly notice that I'm getting ancient. I mean, since when is 80s music oldies? Really here. . .

But I do collect rubber duckies ('cause I love Ernie from Sesame Street, which I do still watch) and I collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals. :)

And there are my Darth Vaders. :)

And I do have a couple of coloring books and a pack of crayons. .. and I was very happy to notice on a loop somewhere that I wasn't the only over 18 person to do that. LOL :)

I feel young when I play games with my 3 1/2 year old boy and my 6 month old baby girl. Just a little while ago my son and I were putting together a 70 piece puzzle and it is fun to see his excitement at creating something.

Hi Terry!

First off I'd like to say what a pleasure it was to meet you in NYC in March. I especially enjoyed our dinner the night we first arrived.

What makes me feel young again? Laughter. I can get silly at the drop of a hat, and laughing always reminds me of when I was a girl, laughing until my sides ached, or giggling half the night with my sister (we shared a room) until we got in trouble.

To this day, I love how one wayward look, or catching someone doing something silly, or John Stewart, can set me off.

There's nothing like a good laugh to wash away the years.

I have Make Believe Cowboy on my TBR pile.

Congrats on the grandbaby and nice to have you here today! What makes me feel younger is when I go to a store to buy either beer or alcohol and the cashier asks me for my id. I'm in my 40's so this always puts a smile on my face and I'm glad to give them my id. Good luck on your new release!

I'm not a grandmother yet but I'm old enough lol. I do have a grandkitty though. I've always loved playing games so any time I can get together with my 2 girls and their boyfriends and play boardgames or cards makes me feel younger. Also when we get together and go to an amusement park :)

Lynne! What a treat to "see" you here :-). I enjoyed meeting you in NY, too!

Aren't the giggles great? Except when they hurt--they can really cramp me up when I get going. But I can hardly wait for the next time :-)!

Minna--LOL on not being old enough to want to feel younger :-). My husband used to worry that people thought he was too young to do business, but I think he got over that sometime when his hair started thinning ;-)!

Christa--bring on the oldies! My children enjoy the music I used to dance to in high school and college. Remember Saturday Night Fever? I actually went to one of those disco clubs once, LOL!

Jenny--thanks for the congrats on my grandbaby :-). I can hardly wait 'til she's old enough to sit and read to...over and over and over again, LOL!

I've fallen in love again, with a beautiful, young (4 years younger than me), intelligent, funny lady. We love the same things (we met over the pop section in a mall's music store and found a common interest in the genre). New Love!!How's that for feeling young?

I actually feel young everyday. I'm 48 years old but I'm very active. I always make sure I go to the gym on weekends and do weight lifting. M-W-F, I go bicycling, and/or canoeing and I get involved in marathons and free runs. Most of all, I don't deprive myself of good food. I eat a balanced meal every mealtime but I also eat ice cream and tiramisu. Life is great if people don't bother about their age. Don't you think so?

I always feel young, it's just my youthful disposition. But sometimes, I turn from kitten to rabid rottweiller and that makes my husband eeky but makes me feel "young-but-in-charge" ROFTLMAO

Stuff that makes me feel young:

Pikachu. (oh, it's just sooo cute!)
Going to school.
Being in the best shape of my life.
Not being married yet (a lot of my classmates are already teen moms)
It's 4 am and I'm wide awake.

All this talk about gardening and 80's music inspired me. I got my balcony all ready for plants (can you tell I'm impatient and put on an 80s cd). I'm feeling ten years younger.

Tammy--I love water balloon fights! What fun, especially on a hot day :-).

Sheina--LOL about "cool" dating you. I remember "groovy" :-).

Leif--yes, it's the younger folks who tend to be much more tech-savvy than the older generations :-).

Dylan--Ahhh, a love story! Best of luck with your new lady, and thanks for the happy smiles :-).

G.I. George--reading about all that activity makes me want to take a nap :-). Glad to hear about the ice cream and tiramisu--important elements in a balanced diet! And yes, I try not to bother about my age, LOL!

Sherlyn--how wonderful to have a "youthful" disposition :-).

Diane--I had to check out Pikachu. Very cute!

Christa--glad you're feeling younger, and I'm sure your balcony will soon be even more wonderful :-)!
