Party Post Number 9

When Ally was a little girl she made a wish that when she turned twenty-six she would marry an Italian two years older than her. After it actually came true she realised she was onto something with these wish things. So, next she wished that she could make a living spending her days in her pyjamas, eating M&Ms and drinking scads of coffee while turning her formative experiences of wallowing in teenaged crushes and romantic movies into creating love stories of her own. The fact that she is now able to spend her spare time Googling pictures of handsome guys for research purposes is merely a bonus!

One of the most beautiful things about living in Melbourne is being able to really experience the change of seasons. The joke being it often happens all in one day. We all learn fast to leave the house with a hat, a coat, and an umbrella. Layering of fashion is a must. But aside from the logistics of living in such a city, once you open your eyes and peer out from under your sunglasses, the view is spectacular.

Right now it’s autumn in this part of the world. It feels like summer will never end and then one day you wake up and you need your ugh boots and your flannelette pyjamas before you will even think of getting out of bed. The trees lining the sides of the freeways to which you had never paid any heed are suddenly aflame with colour. The TV news leaves cricket behind to make way for the next season of footy.

And that’s the exact time of year in which I set my first ever Modern Extra Sensual romance, GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS which is out in the UK this month. Think soft scarves, warm fireplaces, knee high boots beneath calf length skirts, beanies, hot chocolates, and the hush and colour of newly red and golden leaves on the verge of falling. It’s my favourite time of year without a doubt.

Maybe I appreciate it so much as I originally came from Brisbane where it’s sunny all the time. And come on, where’s the fun in that ;).

My favorite time of year is the winter season because of my favorite holidays being in there, Christmas and Valentine's Day.

I have to say that my favorite time of year is fall. I love it when the trees change color and it starts to get cooler. I love to get ready for the Christmas season and start shopping. I don't get to appreciate the fall here in Houston as much as I could in Colorado, though. Next would have to be Spring, to me it feels like a time to renew... Winter and Summer tend to be too hot or too cold, lol, and I don't much like either :)

My favorite time of year is spring! I work at a university, so that's when the academic year starts winding down (lol). Also, the weather is beautiful.
Great post Ally!

My favorite time of year is the first of September. I'm a huge Michigan Wolverine college football fan and the first game of the year usually starts on the first Sat. of the month. (GO BLUE)

One of the things I loved about living in England was the change of seasons. Spring was always so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. What can I say? I'm a sap (rising, like in spring? Nah!). I now live in Queensland and it's much the same all year round. Nice, hot or slightly less hot basically. Sigh. Give me that variety, lass! Ally, congratulations again on the Holt final! And on the new book!

Ally, congratulations on the HOLT Medallion final! Woohooo.

Your post is utterly vivid - I can see the season and feel it too. Little shiver. *g*

I love the height of summer, the hot humid breathless days. But here the months are sliding into longer, colder nights.

I love spring. There are lots of spring bulbs. Everyone seems happy after saying goodbye to winter colds and flu. I can toss away the heavy coat and see my winter pale skin!

I'm an inbetweener -- not too cold, not too cold (nice days, cooler nights)-- so Autumn and Spring. I'm an Aussie, so i do love the beach but hate the really hot weather. But i enjoy the beach all year round.

I love that everyone has different favourite times of year. I love writing books set in winter, all that snuggling, and I much prefer winter fashion.

Summer is nice on those just so days when you can sit in the sun and let the rays wamr your face. Any hotter and I become a hermit ;).

And spring, all the new buds, the flowers in bloom, the pollen giving everyone hayfever ;).

How about for romance? Which is the most romantic season?

My favorite time of year is spring when everything comes back to life. Although this spring has been cold so far this year I'm hoping for some good weather soon.

Ally, you've made me realise how fickle I am! I like them all. Just as long as they don't last too ong. I love the change of seasons and the lovely sense of expectation in the air when a new season is coming in - like now with autumn approaching here.

Strange though, I seem to find myself imagining wonderful winter romances when it's sweltering hot and devising summer idylls in the middle of our cold weather. Mixed up or what? As for which season is the most romantic - I think it depends on the man involved!

I like the spring as long as it's nice and not raining. I find the summer too hot. When it's nice weather. I walk to shop. That way I can take my time and not have worry about someone waiting. I find winter and fall too cold to do anything.

My favorite season is fall. I love the cooler weather and all the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. Although there is something in every season to appreciate and find beauty in.

My favorite time of year would have to Spring...although I love the winter snows, it gets old after awhile and Spring renews, you know?

Most romantic time of year? Spring, for the same reason, it renews! Although the beginning of winter is good as well...hmmm:)

I love fall right before it gets really cold. I also love spring when new things bloom and before it gets so hot you can't stand it.

My fav time of year is right now, mid April. One morning you wake up and there's a nip in the air. You think about pulling out a cardi instead of the tank top. Overnight, it's changed. And somewhere in the deep, dark recesses of my mind I think I associate that change in season with changes in my life. Anything *big* seems to happen at Easter time, the good as well as not-so-good, which gives it a kind of wistful feel too. And, you guessed it, drifing into autumn is the most romantic time of year for me =)

Spring here in Arizona is so colorful-the desert is abloom with bright orange poppies, purple sage, and the bright yellow-green palo verde trees. And the weather is so mild in the 80's

My favorite would be summer. You can do so many things in warm weather. But I love Christmas time with all the snow outside too.
